Why should I choose Swanky Rags?
We will assist you in choosing your dream dress in a relaxed and friendly environment and make sure your time spent with us is enjoyable.
We want what is best for you and we promise an honest opinion without pressure. You can expect an extremely warm welcome from a friendly and professional team who really do care about you and will ensure that you look and feel as good as you deserve on your special day. Our caring nature combined with the excellent service we offer to all of our customers is what we believe sets us apart from the rest.
Do I need to book an appointment to try dresses on?
Due to Covid we are operating an appointment system but please call us as we may have space to accommodate you on 01733 345181 or 07802 480747
Do you stock all sizes?
We cater for sizes 0 to 32+ in store but any larger size can be ordered, so we have something for everyone.
We cater for ages 0-3 months through to age 14 years.
Do you order in dresses?
Yes there are hundreds of dresses to order different colour and sizes.
Tiffanys Prom – Arriving in store in November. Collections change yearly, so ordering is very time limited. Tiffanys Prom can be ordered from November until the middle of March only – with limited delivery dates, so get your orders in quick so there is no disappointment.
Tiffanys Bridesmaid – Available all year. Normal delivery 16 weeks.
Bridal – 24 weeks delivery.
Note: There are 200 dresses in store to buy off the peg.
Do you do accessories?
Yes, to complete your outfit we offer accessories which includes matching handbags, wraps, boleros, jewellery and tiaras.
Do I need to pay upfront for the dress?
No, we just need a deposit and we will remove that dress off the shop floor and reserve it for you. This guarantees your dress for your function, you can then continue to pay for your dream dress with our interest free payment contract – making a payment of your choice at least every 12 weeks.
No dress is altered or allowed off the premises until it is paid for in full!.
What is the minimum deposit required to secure a dress?
We require 50% of the cost price (that’s half the price of the dress)
To order your dress in a different colour or size, a minimum deposit of 50% of the cost of the dress is required .
50% of the cost of the dress is the required deposit.
Special Order: 50% of the cost of your wedding dress is all we need to order the dress of your choice in your chosen colour and size.
Note: All deposits are non refundable or transferable to other items.
Do you do payment plans?
Yes, we do. Once you pay the deposit, you can then continue to pay for your dream dress with our easy, no hassle, interest free Swanky Rags special flexi payment plan.
You pay the remaining balance off as per signed contract, no set payment amount but at intervals of no greater than 12 weeks. Once you have paid for the dress in full you then get to take your dress home or have alterations done, it couldn’t be easier.

Do I have to take my dress as soon as it has arrived in the store?
We are happy to store/hold your dress for you in a specially designed gown carrier (£10 cost), which not only protects your dress but is ideal for storage once you take it home.
We will hold your dress free of charge until the ‘DATE OF FUNCTION‘ stated on your signed contract. After this date a charge will be applied.
Is there anything I need to bring with me when I am dress shopping?
There is nothing that you need to bring, we have a box for you to stand on to help to see if you need any alterations to the dress length.
Note: Please no make-up/fake tan as these can damage the dresses.
Who can I bring with me when I am looking for a prom dress?
You need to be accompanied by an adult to try dresses on, but can come alone to have a look.
You are welcome to bring friends & family, it always helps to get a second opinion!
I don’t want anyone to know what prom dress I have. Is this a problem?
We have a Prom log which is never revealed to anyone else other than staff – so be assured we won’t tell!!
We only allow one style of dress per school for Proms, regardless if it is available in other colours – 100% track record!!
So once a dress has been allocated to your school, you pay a small deposit to reserve your dress and we won’t let anyone else try it on… It’s that simple!
What if my dress needs alterations?
Alterations are part of a perfect fit for most formal wear, therefore we offer an in house fitting and alteration service to our CUSTOMERS ONLY.
Our seamstress have the experience, skills and knowledge to perform alterations to the highest standards. Specialising in all wedding dresses, evening gowns, ball gowns, prom dresses, cruise wear… in-fact all formal wear.
Note: You don’t have to use us, you are welcome to take your dress elsewhere for your alterations.
Do I need to book an appointment for my alterations?
Yes appointments are required. You are advised to bring your shoes and underwear/bra of choice in order for the fitting to go ahead.
The garment is steamed and finished ready to wear and take home for the final fitting.
